About Me.
I WRITE TO REMEMBER.
I’m kind of an absurd person. I just hope to get points for being aware of it. I have a pretty bad memory so I write to help collect my thoughts.
My name is Brandon Howard. I’m passionate about faith, family, and friends. I own a digital marketing agency based in Tennessee. I’m a complete nerd. I geek out about Star Wars, Avengers, dungeons and dragons, those lame card games with lots of pictures of monsters, etc. I tend to be direct and decisive (sometimes perceived as blunt or even aggressive). I tend to overstep boundaries. I don’t do well when listening to someone that is being repetitive. I focus on tangible points and try to stay on topic.
I encourage you to engage with me in discussion, particularly about religion. That said, if you want to have a real conversation it’s important that you avoid circular reasoning or rambling. Please avoid generalizations and statements without support. Focus on the topic and do not derail the conversation with irrelevant information. The only thing I ask is that you keep an open mind. I pride myself on being able to look at things objectively and truly consider your opinion, so please don’t bother with a discussion if you’re not completely open to consider mine.
Faith.
WHAT YOU BELIEVE MATTERS.
I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with churches and Christians alike. I’m also left-brained so I’ve had to work through my beliefs using logic, science, and personal experience. I can relate to many non-believers that have issues with Christians and the church. After all, I did leave the church for many years specifically to avoid being around self-rightous Christians. I’m compelled to discuss my beliefs with anyone that’s curious about Christ; especially addressing hard questions from a Christian perspective.
Here are some of my latest posts:
What makes Christianity different from other religions?
Isn't Christianity at its core the same as other religions? If you were to put it in a pot and boil it down, wouldn't it smell, look, and taste the same as Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and the rest? The answer is no. Here's why.
What happens to people who have never heard the gospel?
The population of non-believers is broken into 3 groups: People who have heard of Jesus and rejected Him (the overwhelming majority), people who have never heard of Jesus (tribes in the middle of nowhere), and people that are unable to hear about Jesus (babies, mentally challenged, etc). Read this practical breakdown.
Why does God require a blood sacrifice for sin?
The Christian faith rests squarely and un-alterably on the fact that blood must be shed in order for God’s anger toward sinful humans to be appeased. To be clear, the question is not “Is a blood sacrifice required for sin?” We know the Bible states that the answer is unequivocally yes. The question is, “Why blood?”
Family.
MY PLEDGE.
I pledge to my home…to my wife…to my son and daughter. I will honor my home and consider my trust in supporting it a sacred one. I will take time to cultivate a friendship between myself and my family. I will not be too busy when they need me…even if it’s only to catch a football or mend a doll’s broken leg. I will love my wife and children as only I can. I will work with my wife to provide proper care and concern for our children. I will introduce my children to Christ and share with them the joys of a relationship with Him.
